Dave Fields, PMHNP is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner renowned for his work with adolescents and adults. A Hawaii native, Dave's educational journey began at Mililani High School, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and a Master of Science in Nursing with a psychiatry specialization from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.

With a rich background in treating psychiatric disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Dave has made significant contributions to mental health care. Notably, he was the first provider to implement an Assisted Community Treatment order on the island of Maui, a pioneering step in community-based mental health care and a testament to his commitment to innovative approaches in the field.

As a professor at Kapiolani Community College, Dave imparts his knowledge and experiences to aspiring mental health professionals, inspiring the next generation. His dedication extends to the broader community, particularly through his outreach work with homeless individuals affected by mental health issues, demonstrating his deep commitment to serving the most vulnerable.

Dave's professional interests are wide-ranging, encompassing adolescent mental health, cultural psychiatry, serious mental illnesses, and the emerging field of telemental health. He is deeply invested in advancing mental health education and promoting multidisciplinary collaboration for enhanced patient care, especially in underserved and marginalized communities.

In his personal life, Dave is a passionate anime enthusiast and an avid traveler.  Alongside these interests, he enjoys spending quality time with his dog Gary and nurturing his connections with family and the community, embodying the Hawaiian spirit of ‘ohana.
